Colorado Independents Fight for Their Rights!

INDEPENDENT VOTERS
ILLINOIS OPEN PRIMARIES
CALIFORNIA PROP 14
COLORADO
  • The Right to be Independent is at Issue (Jacqueline Salit, Huffington Post) There are a lot of people in this country who are very unhappy with the political parties and their intense partisanship . Some are voters and some are officeholders. But whatever their status, they should have the right to leave a political party and become an independent without being penalized. The parties shouldn't be allowed to run the political process to suit their own purposes. The bottom line here is democracy, and that's what Kathleen, Joelle and I are asking the court to see.
  • INDEPENDENTS FIGHT FOR A VOICE (BY PAMELA WHITE, Boulder Weekly) The number of independent voters is growing nationwide, and as their numbers increase, so does their desire to be full participants in elections that are currently dominated by two parties.
  • Riddle continues to push election suit (Durango Telegraph/Quick & Dirty)
  • Drew Munro — It's almost time to vote: Do you know where your candidate is? (Sky-Hi News) Wow. Democracy freed from the surly bonds of party politics. What a concept.

Do you think Colorado’s voting laws should be changed so that independent voters have the same rights as Democrats and Republicans?

  • Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton downplay NAACP Tea Party resolution, push jobs, DC march (HEATHER HOLLINGSWORTH, Associated Press, Cleveland Plain Dealer) Sharpton was a little more direct, saying issues surrounding the Tea Party go beyond claims of racism. He said the civil rights movement sought to pressure the federal government to step in when states were enforcing segregation laws, and the tea party's focus on states' rights puts people at risk.
  • What if the Tea Party Were Black? (Mirror on America) Blogger, Professor, & author Christopher Chambers discusses the Tea Party on the RT network.
