War is a Racket

Major General Smedley Butler July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940

"A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."

Rep. Kucinich is the only politician I know who's actively working for peace on a sustaining basis. Most of the rest are more concerned about war and "defense" than peace. We are a warrior-like nation, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm really surprised about Pres. Obama being on the wrong side of this issue.

David, thanks so much for your comment. We are indeed in dire straits. I think the more voices for an anti-war and anti-empire America the better. Keep on keepin on! - NH
