2008: Independents for Obama?

DraftObama.org Announces Independents for Obama (Press Release--PR Newswire)
Iowa-Based Group Hopes Barack Obama Will Run for President, Shows Unexpected Early Support of Independents for Obama....

"We hope it gives independents the encouragement they need to become involved in an eventual Obama campaign should he choose to run."

What do you think? I think if Barak Obama wants to reach out to independents, he will give a platform for nonpartisans and independents to speak out on the issues of concern to us -- partisan corruption, the crisis in democracy in our country, and the need for accountability among our elected officials. He might organize meetings with independents across the country. He might ask independents and nonpartisans what issues are important to us and address those issues...

I think as Independents come to know Obama they will begin to understand why I think he would be a great leader of this nation.

I particularly like his bold initiatives on Ethics Reform including his call for an Independent Ethics Committee and the public disclosure of Earmarks.

Anonymous - thanks for your comment. You seem to be a big fan of Barak Obama. How do you think he could reach out to independent voters?

All of the Independents I have talked to are frustrated by the lack of work our government has done in recent years.

We're not so much upset by the fact that they haven't done what we want, they just haven't done anything at all.

For example, Social Security...no one will touch it and yet we all know it's broken! Something needs to be done and it needs to be done now. Both parties need to compromise and at least do something to keep it from exploding.

I think Barack Obama is a true politician in his ability to compromise in order to get things done. I don't agree with all his views, but we need a leader who will put the interests of the people in front of his own political beliefs in order to get something done!

Perhaps this is my number one reason why I like Obama. Out of all the major candidates...he has been the consisent voice of sanity on the War in Iraq.
