As I read more about political leaders being "brought into line" by public opinion, the following occurs to me. In seems like in a lot of the Administrations over the last 35 years (particularly in regard to the scandalous and covert actions) that we as a citizen body have had to correct our Presidents and seek to have them not do the wrong things. I always thought that leadership was out in front of the masses in a good way, having great insight and through education and example showing us the best of how things could be. Why would we elect a leader if they are less than us, and need to be corrected, rather than more? What does that say about us and our collective judgment? Even a leader "taking a poll" to chart direction may be better than just flying solo against the American will, but in this case also, where is the leadership? Where is the vision?
