House race a top prize as 8 states vote

Washington Post(Reuters) - Republican Brian Bilbray took a narrow early lead on Tuesday in a hard-fought U.S. House of Representatives race in California viewed as a potential early sign of voter sentiment heading into November's congressional elections.
On a day when eight states held primaries, Bilbray led Democrat Francine Busby by about 3,000 votes with 30 percent of precincts reporting in a conservative district north of San Diego. The two were vying to replace Randy Cunningham, a former Republican congressman who is in prison for taking bribes.... [more]
