California Open Primary Election May Change Political Landscape

CALIFORNIA OPEN PRIMARY ELECTION
Viewpoints: State GOP's last chance to make a deal (By Peter Schrag, SacBee) The new districts will be drawn by a nonpartisan commission. The elections themselves will begin with an open primary in which voters of any party, or no party, can choose candidates of any party for any office. The top two candidates, again regardless of party, will then face off in the general election.
