Greenville News Editorial: Voters win with judge's ruling (Greenville Online.com) Judge Childs noted that the state burden imposed on political parties was “slight, at the most” and correctly addressed important state interests protected under the current system. The state has a significant interest in “regulating elections in a manner that preserves the integrity of the electoral process and ensures that elections are fair and honest.” The state also has an interest in “promoting voter participation in the electoral process” and in protecting “the rights of individual voters to cast a meaningful ballot.”
