Can independent voters be the "listening to the people" party?
Thanks to Carroll for the very thoughtful response on Tim Roemer's "Had Enough?" Campaign Not Enough By Steve ClemonsTPM Cafe on The Hankster Apr. 29, 2006. Carroll asks a very good question: Can independents be the "listening to the people" party?
That is an especially important question given the dramatic growth of the number of independents, as the parties and politicians are becoming more partisan and ideologically divided.
And, as Carroll said, maybe independents could "not say this is what ALL independents believe or "must" believe on issues to be an independent." Listening to the people would be a welcome step away from our current partisan culture. Let's hope independents will lead the way. - NH
