MSNBC has great exit poll information
One of their questions is "No matter how you voted today, do you usually think of yourself as a Democrat, Republican, Independent or something else?"
Here's how independents voted yesterday in the Democratic primaries:
Obama Clinton
Texas: 48% 49%
Ohio: 50% 48%
Vermont: 65% 35%
Rhode Island: 47% 52%
In Texas, independents made up 24% (673,759) of the votes in the Dem primary and 21% (272,873) of the vote in the Repub primary. In Ohio, independents made up 22% (481,103) of the votes in the Dem primary and 17% (171,846) of the votes in the Repub primary.
In looking at the raw numbers, 6 out of 10 independents voted for Dems in Texas, and almost 2/3rds of independents voted for Dems in Ohio. One lesson here: Independents have moved left.
