Wisconsin independent voters turn out in open primary today

Wisconsin open primary today: Exit polls show independents cast about one-quarter of the ballots in the Democratic race, and roughly 15% of the electorate were first-time voters. (WAND-TV, Illinois)

Turnout was predicted to be 35 percent in Wisconsin, which would be the highest in 20 years for a presidential primary. Wisconsin's primary is open, meaning voters don't have to designate a party affiliation and they can register on election day. (Chippewa.com)
