TODAY'S NEWS HEADLINES for INDEPENDENT VOTERS


With low primary turnout in Oregon, Kulongoski and Saxton have nothing to crow about coming off of their typical "ugly" campaigns. They face independent governor candidate Ben Westlund in November. And the primaries in Pennsylvania also give voters the usual choices--except that there is a voter backlash going on over the pay increase that the state legislature wants and there's an independent candidate for governor Russ Diamond who is stands to gain some ground. Minnesota major party registration is at 54% -- are the indies really Democrats? And have a look at Burt Prelutsky's quaint view of independent voters in Town Hall.
